Manna Tahiti has been nominated for the 2005 international Saul Bell Design Awardfor innovative and original jewelry design.

2005

Founded by Rio Grande, a company that has served the jewelry industry for more than five decades, the prestigious competition honors designers who ” unleash their imagination and push the boundaries of jewelry design.

”Designer and jewelry manufacturer Stanley Siu of Manna-Tahiti Pearl Company in Oakland, California, was recently recognized as a finalist in the  Beads Category in the 2005 Saul Bell Design Award competition for jewelry design.

Stanley Siu’s notable piece, “Arii Signature choker” was hand-fabricated from sterling silver. The Signature line strand links dozens of sterling silver cups, each containing a beautiful Tahitian pearl. A proprietary silver/14K yellow gold clasp fastens them securely on the neck. Stanley Siu designed the piece using a CAD program, created a 3-D wax model from the rendering and cast the design in sterling silver.  The theme of this 2005 competition was to challenge jewelry designers to push the boundaries of creativity as they created original and innovative pieces in any of five jewelry categories. Each designer chose one

category as the foundation of their piece and integrated additional stones or materials as they wished, provided that the predominant material remained at least 75% of the finished, original design.
